Flagstaff Depot

Flagstaff and trains are nearly synonymous. Historically, the railroad provided a way to transport lumber that was cut from the forests surrounding Flagstaff to other cities in the West. Today, it's a busy Amtrak station, although most other trains pass through without stopping. The photo here is of Flagstaff's first Depot (background) as well as a statue (foreground) commemorating the men who worked hard laying ties for the Santa Fe-Burlington Railroad all those many years ago.
