Yucca

This is a yucca plant. It's a member of the agave family and thrives in a dry, desert-like environment. Although not common in Flagstaff, we do see the occasional yucca on the south side of a rock outcropping. Their leaves are long and fibrous and have sharp ends as a defense from hungry critters.
